“Victorians’ should be able to solve ‘WHY’: This wasn’t merely a headline quote on the opening Day of Orientation at Victoria University, it was a marker on the high expectations from a student at the most progressive University across the frontiers.
Monday, March 21, 2022 at 10:20am, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Lawrence Muganga was ushered into the hall where hundreds of students had eagerly awaited. Warm faced and bespoke suited, he watched admiringly the gathering overlooking him. As the light escaping from the ventilation kissed his bright forehead, the University Secretary beckoned him to the stand. He ‘grabbed’ the moment like he is renowned never afraid to share his elephant experiences. In just a line, he had unpacked the mutual relationship between the institution and the student – ‘’We help you to wisely use the available information’’.
Lawrence like he proudly amplifies as his label admits the world now has a forest of information able to give enough shade to a student. Be that as it may, the best university is one able to irrigate that forest of information and that’s none other than Victoria University.
University’s duty is to offer students: education that works for them; Learn how to live .Unlock students potential .Prepare students for the real world not an artificial one . Finding your place in a congested, competitive world.
If a Victoria university student (‘Victorian’) embraces the above output, they will have answered ‘WHY’ they enrolled in a university that upholds thee.
With a ‘96% Employee Satisfaction Rate’ of a ‘Victorian’, Dr. Muganga acknowledges how that strength was attained, “Developing students ‘Digital literacy’ is an important milestone the institution identified.”
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Augustine Osamor Ifelebuegu had set the ball rolling earlier appealing to the new ‘Victorians’ not to just be consumers of academia, but to challenge the facts, interrogate, and be critical thinkers to better their communities.
Meanwhile, the fresh ‘Victorians’ have been ushered to the crest of universities. It’s undoubtable that Victoria University is unique with outstanding education models that help students acquire and create knowledge through Experiential Learning.
“When you go to Victoria University, you are assured that you will graduate with 2-3 years’ experience and you also have an opportunity to be accorded a job placement through our partner organizations within and out of the country,” University’s Vice-Chancellor Prof.Lawrence Muganga recently told our reporter.
Muganga added that they are the only university in East Africa that is implementing an experiential learning model through their work-integrated learning program; the priority of this program is to make sure that every student of the university is placed in a real job to gain real experience needed in the labor market.
Victoria University is the only higher institution of learning that offers its students the opportunity of; study anywhere, anytime, access to free textbooks and graduate with work experience. The University has the capacity, facilities and determination to revitalize higher education in Uganda and in the region.
VUis also committed to playing a leading role in bringing and developing high-quality education, student-centred learning opportunities based on standards of excellence that are unique, innovative and difficult to match.
