Oulanyah’s body to arrive in Uganda on Sunday

The Minister for Presidency, Hon. Milly Babalanda is next week expected to issue an official burial program for the deceased speaker, with a state burial in the offing among other tributary sections.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The body of the Speaker of Parliament Emeritus, Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah is expected to arrive at Entebbe International Airport on Sunday, March 27th, 2022 at 2pm (EAT).

According to sources privy to the deceased legislator, the burial of the fallen speaker will be laid to rest on 2nd April 2022 at his ancestral home in Omoro district.

Oulanyah, 56, was pronounced dead by President Museveni on Sunday, March 20 2022, after a long battle with ‘colon cancer’ in Seattle, United States where he had been rushed earlier last month (Feb).

The speaker’s untimely death would later declare his seat vacant which prompted for a special legislative sitting to elect the new speaker with Anita Among declared winner of Friday elections. Among polled 401 while her rival from the opposition, Asuman Basalirwa garnered only 66 votes.

The Minister for Presidency, Hon. Milly Babalanda is next week expected to issue an official burial program for the deceased speaker, with a state burial in the offing among other tributary sections.

“Fellow Ugandans, thank you for remaining united during this trying time. On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, I will release the final burial program for the Speaker of Parliament Emeritus, Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah,” Minister Babalanda tweeted on Saturday.
