Dutch Tourist Dies in Accident along Kotido-Moroto Highway, Colleague Injured

The tourist, and her colleague both social workers with Child Care Africa were returning from Kidepo national park where they had gone for a tour

KOTIDO, UGANDA: A dutch foreign tourist has been reported dead and her colleague nursing injuries following a nasty car crash on Saturday afternoon when their vehicle overturned at Kalosarich along Kotido-Moroto highway.

The deceased identified as Dorian Isabel Cosijnse, 29, and her colleague Andrea Calende Huizenga, 22, currently hospitalized both social workers working with Child Care Africa were returning from Kidepo national park where they had gone for a tour when the unfortunate incident happened.

Kotido district police commander, Mr Moses Akena confirmed the incident and said Huizenga is admitted at Kotido general hospital receiving medical attention while Cosijnse’s body was taken to Kotido general hospital mortuary for postmortem.

“The tourists had gone for a tour in Kidepo and on their way back they got a terrible accident around Kalosarich,” Akena said before adding that the cause of the accident is yet to be established but investigations have started.

This is the first such accident to happen on the road and Karamoja sub-region since the beginning of this year. The Kotido-Moroto road connects Amuria, Abim, Agago, and Otuke among other districts as well as the Kidepo Valley National Game Park in Karenga district.
