LUUKA, UGANDA: The Prime Minister of Busoga Dr. Joseph Muvawala has urged people in Busoga to always get involved in changing their schools other than discussing school poor performance on social media.

“Some people think they can change schools on WhatsApp and phones by commenting on the poor performance of the school and the Head Master, which is wrong. We can’t change the schools on WhatsApp but we should change them by getting involved personally, there’s is no one who will come from outside to change your area but you need to love your area and be concerned about it, for others to love it too,” Dr Muvawala said.

Dr Muvawala was on Friday commissioning a three classroom block at Namulanda Primary School, Bukooma sub county in Luuka district in a bid to boost the academic performance in the school.

The classroom block worth over 100 million shillings was constructed by the first Deputy Prime minister Busoga kingdom Prof. Dr. Muhammad Lubega Kisambira at Namulanda Primary School in memory of his late father Haji Juma Luwangula and also to help in boosting education in the district.

While commissioning the classroom block named “Hajji Juma Luwangula Memorial Block”, Dr Muvawala called on all politicians to avoid being enemies of one another but unite and put right everything. He said that Prof Lubega isn’t aiming at politics.

“All of you people in politics let me tell you, if you think other people should not attend and you be a lone, a lot will be critics against you. Let many come such that when we’re at such a function, everyone is present and we should not say that they are looking forward to contest politically.

Muvawala urged Basoga to continue fighting disease, Poverty and Ignorance as it is heard in the Anthem of Busoga.

However, Prof Dr. Muhammad Lubega Kisambira, says that he studied at Namulanda Primary School from P.3 in 1978 to P.7 adding that they (him and other family members) decided to construct the classroom block in memory of their late father Hajji Juma Luwangula who was once a headteacher of the said school.

“When a day like this one comes and we’re at Namulanda primary school and it’s like how it is after putting a building in memory of our father who minded a lot about the school, we indeed feel sorrowful but we thank Allah, my brothers and sisters for what we managed to do,” Dr Lubega said before adding that they didn’t do it to be recognized or show off but the Islamic teaching has it that whatever good thing which is done will be accepted by Allah and rewarding will flow to the deceased parent or those who got involved.

Dr Lubega urged parents to take all children to school and impart knowledge, discipline and religious behaviors in them.
“Mr headmaster we request you one thing that the children study well by learning circular and religion and we shall be happy if we restore this method. As we take Moslem Children to school, we should also emphasize Christian children to study,” Dr Lubega narrated.

He said that the world is deteriorating because of ignoring to impart discipline and religion in the children. “The world is dying for failure to put religion in our children and if you don’t agree with me please go to your nearest church or mosque and count the number of people without grey hair. We have brought up children when we go for prayers but leave them at home,” Prof Lubega cautioned.

The State Minister for Education in Busoga Kingdom Nasabu Nantale appreciated Prof. Dr. Lubega for the development he has done at various schools in Luuka district and said that it will enable social distancing at school since there are enough classrooms.
“This will help children to study well since social distance is assured,” she said.

The outgoing Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Luuka district, Rosemary Byabashaija commended the good work done by Prof Dr Lubega for being generous by giving back to Luuka district.
“I thank God for Luuka district and Busoga as a whole to see that God gave you a gift of a good child with a generous heart. This is not easy but I want to appreciate you professor for the kind work,” RDC Byabashaija calmly appreciated.

The function attracted many officials both politicians and technicals. They included, Commissioner in charge of Teacher Education at the Ministry of Education and Sports Jonathan Kamwana, Luuka district CAO Richard Mugolo, Luuka district LC 5 chairperson Simon Wakaze, Luwangula Family, to mention.

This has come at a time when Dr Lubega is also working hard to improve livelihood of Youths and other people in Luuka district.
At the start of March 2022, he gave welding machines to youths in Luuka Town Council and Kyanvuma Town Council. He has also fulfilled the promise by giving youths of Bukoona town council a welding machine to help them in accessing knowledge and skills.
