KAMPALA, UGANDA: Grief has befallen the community at Kampala International University (KIU) after an engineer hired to work at the University fell off the Main Library building and died instantly.
The deceased identified as Peter Lulya, a painter, was hired together with other painters to revamp the Iddi Basajjabalaba memorial library but did not make it out alive after slipping off the building.
The incident happened on Wednesday, May 4th, April 2022.
An eyewitness at the scene told DailyExpress that Lulya’s death could have been caused by the lack of safety measures on the building and inappropriate spacing of the ladders on which the painters stood.
Police later arrived at the scene and retrieved the deceased’s body but was yet to issue a statement on the cause of death.
The University management declined to comment on the incident, and by press time, no statement had been released on the matter.
