KOLE, UGANDA: The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party leaders in Kole district have commended President Yoweri Museveni who is also the National party chairperson for giving them a hardworking Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), Trevor Solomon Baleke.
Baleke was appointed deputy RDC Kole district in the recent reshuffles by the president’s office. He was previously the Administrative secretary NRM in Kamuli district.
The development was reached at in a meeting with Counsel Deborah Nshemereirwe, a lawyer in the legal directorate of NRM Secretariat on Wednesday at the party officers in Ayer Town council, Kole district. The meeting attracted NRM leaders as part of the ongoing NRM office verification process across the country. Among the issues being focused on are office rent, furniture, and leadership.
Lilian Anyati, the district NRM chairperson commended the deputy RDC tagging him as a hardworking person who has made NRM shine again in Kole. She also lauded Baleke for engaging the district leadership in monitoring government projects citing that he’s a selfless cadre.
“I see work in him, he is a hardworking person who has brought NRM on board. He always call us for company whenever he goes out to monitor government projects and we go together, we thank the president for identifying for us a hardworking and selfless cadre and we are ready to work with him,” Ms Anyati said before boldly adding that Baleke deserves better.
Speaking to DailyExpress, Alfred Okello, the Chairperson of the NRM elderly league in Kole district says that it was the best choice ever since the president has been giving them RDCs. Okello says that unlike other leaders, Baleke first met with some leaders in the district and among them were the NRM leaders, something he quoted as enforcing togetherness and unity.
“In fact ever since president made the appointment of RDCs, this time he gave us a knowledgeable, informed and active deputy RDC. Mr. Baleke first met among others, leaders in Kole and this is a sign of promoting the spirit of togetherness and unity,” Mr Okello said.
“In the past, many people were murdered for supporting NRM but as we speak now, this is history and people can openly support political parties of their choice,” he added.
However, counsel Deborah Nshemereirwe from NRM secretariat urged NRM leaders to remain united and continue working with their RDC citing that it’s one of the way of mobilizing for the party.
“Now that you said the deputy RDC is good, please continue working with him. Involve and consult him always since It’s another way of mobilizing for the party,” counsel Nshemereirwe said.
She applauded the district NRM leaders after finding a functioning office well decorated and with sign posts. Ms Nshemereirwe however registered challenges crippling NRM office operations which were raised by the leaders and among them was rent arrears, something she said will be handled urgently by the head office in Kampala as she pledged to forward it for action.
Meanwhile, deputy RDC Kole district Trevor Solomon Baleke pledged working together with everyone in monitoring government programs. He asked them to reach out to his office on any issue concerning service delivery.
“I’m going to work with you in monitoring government work by putting an eye on every program. Please always call in or reach out to my office and ask about any issue concerning service delivery and I will be there to respond to your concerns,” Mr Baleke said.
He (Baleke) urged NRM leaders to always wear their uniforms everywhere which is opposed to putting them on during meetings and campaigns. Says that people must know that they subscribe to the ruling party.
“Don’t only wear these yellow T-shirts in meetings and during campaigns but do it everywhere. Let people know and identity you by your party of NRM,” Baleke added.
