KAMPALA, UGANDA: Former NTV Uganda News Anchor Frank Walusimbi has reportedly joined the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as Communications Officer.
This comes barely a month after the former Akawungeezi star announced his resignation from NTV where he had spent 15 years since the station’s inception in 2006.
Although Walusimbi had remained tight-lipped about his next move shortly after leaving Serena, several rumors went on to suggest that the Luganda news ‘guru’ was joining Bulange Mengo’s BBS TV, while others suggested that he was another ‘big fish’ crossing to NTV rivals, Next Media Services.
However, information reaching DailyExpress from highly placed sources confirms that Walusimbi is now in ‘things’ after securing a mega role at the United Nations.
According to the sources, the award-winning journalist is expected to work as a communications officer at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
At the time of filing this story, Walusimbi was yet to comment on the developments of his appointments but an official confirmation and statement from the UN Agency is expected soon according to the source.
