KAMPALA, UGANDA: President Yoweri Museveni has appointed in “acting capacity” sixteen (16) new judges of the High Court into the Judiciary Service, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has Wednesday announced.
According to a JSC press release dated May 25, seven (7) of the 16 newly appointed judges are male while 9 are female. These according to the statement will serve in the acting capacity for a period of two years before being confirmed in their positions permanently.
“H.E. the President of Uganda has appointed in acting capacity 16 judges of the high court into the Judiciary Service,” reads partly a JSC statement confirming the appointment of the new judges.
Prominent among the newly appointed judges is Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Dr Douglas Singiza, Her Worship, Ikit Mary of Mukono High Court, and Her Worship Matovu Nassuna Flavia.
Ms. Magret Tibulya, the Judicial Communications Officer explained that the new appointments are an outcome of the Commission’s ongoing recruitment exercise of Judicial officers at various levels countrywide.
She said this is the largest ever appointment of judges of the high court at that level by the president, and with the addition, this will enhance the high court’s capacity to expeditiously dispose of cases and tackle the impending backlog.

- Ocaya Thomas Ojele Rubanga

- Patricia Mutesi
- Okello George
- Bukirwa Faridah
- Magala Harriet Grace
- Acellam Collins
- Nagawa Celia
- Nshimye Allan Paul Mbabazi
