Five dead, Eight injured in fatal Kyegegwa accident

At least five people have been confirmed dead, and eight others seriously injured after a taxi motor vehicle suffered a car tyre burst in Kyegegwa district.

KYEGEGWA, UGANDA: At least five people have been confirmed dead, and eight others seriously injured after a taxi motor vehicle Reg.No. UBK 077S suffered a car tyre burst along the Kyenjojo-Kyegegwa in Kyegegwa district.

According to Traffic police spokesperson, Ms. Faridah Nampiima, the fatal accident happened on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at around 9am at a place called Kyasitiri along the Kyenjojo-Kyegegwa Highway.

“The territorial police at Kyegegwa have today  26th May 2022, about 0900hrs registered a single fatal accident involving Motor vehicle reg No UBK077S Toyota Hiace (drone). The accident happened at Kyasitiri along the Kyenjojo_Kyegegwa Highway, which claimed lives of five people, seriously injuring eight others,” Nampiima said in a statement.

The deceased persons have been identified as Byamukama Hebert, 46, Katusabe Consolata, 47, a male juvenile only identified as Agondeze all residents of Kyaduri Kyenjojo District and two unidentified male adults.

While the injured are Nabagereka, 59, a resident of Hesi Bunyangabo District, Asaba Bibohere, 44, a resident of Kyarusozi Kyenjojo District, Katesigwa Noah, 45, a resident of   Kyaduri Kyenjojo District, Wabaire Sam, 32, a resident of Lweza Makindye Sssbagabo, Junior Samuel, 20, a resident of   Mugusu Bunyangabo District, Atuhaire Fatuma  aged 32years a resident of   Mabira Kyaduri Kyenjojo District, Kemigabo Juliet 27 years, a resident of   Kicucu Bunyangabo District

Nampiima confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Kyegegwa hospital mortuary for postmortem while the injured have all been rushed to Mubende General Hospital for further Management.
