OMORO, UGANDA: The ruling NRM camp in Omoro district has kicked off celebrations after provisional results in Thursday’s by-election posted a significant lead in Andrew Ojok’s favor against any other in the candidate.
The voting that kicked off at around 7 am on Thursday, May 26, concluded peacefully all over the district although some opposition MPs including Hon. Lukyamuzi David Kalwanga (Busujju county) and Chua West MP, PP Okin Ojara were arrested on allegations of trying to sabotage the voting exercise.
By around 4pm in the evening, vote counting in various polling stations kicked off and by press time, the provisional results put the late speaker’s son Andrew Ojok Oulanyah in a commanding lead to replace his father as the area MP in the eleventh parliament.

Statistically, Ojok has so far garnered 1000 votes from less than 5 polling stations tallied at the time of filing this story. This according to the voter turn up posts about 70% of the total votes expected.
