KAMPALA, UGANDA: The Minister of State for Ethics and Integrity Ms. Rose Lilly Akello has today paid a courtesy visit Lubiri High School for a meeting with the management after last week’s bus incident involving their students aboard a school bus.

In a video that went viral online, a section of female students were filmed in a bus belonging to Midland High School a Kampala traffic gridlock dancing on their male counterparts in what seemed to be a sexual act. The students according to the school management were returning from an agricultural show in Jinja.

The minister while meeting with the school officials in Mengo today said the purpose of her visit was to hear “their side of the story” as police concludes with the investigations.

Ms. Akello said she had been contacted by several concerned parents to look into the matter on behalf of government.
“On behalf of government, I would like to strongly condemn any act that undermines the good image of government and Ugandan Society at large,” she said.

The minister however blamed this and similar behaviours by learners in schools on “exposure to false or inaccurate information on sexuality, general moral degeneration and lack of proper guidance among others has worsened the plight of the youth.”

“The Lubiri High School incidence represent a bigger problem that might not be solved using only legal means,” she said.

Police earlier this week came out to confirm that the video incident has been taken up by the Criminal Investigations Department which over the weekend asked the school to provide them with the list of the students on the bus.
