Unknown thugs stab prison warder in attack on Kibaale prison

KIBALE, UGANDA: Police in Kibaale district is investigating circumstances under which unidentified assailants entered the prison facility and left a prison warder nursing wounds after stabbing him in the stomach.

The incident happened at around 11 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022, when the yet-to-be-identified thugs raided Kyakasengura prison barracks in Kibaale district, western Uganda, and stabbed one private Daniel Otimong No. 18106 for yet-to-be-known reasons.

According to Prison warder, Jackson Musinguzi, a colleague of Otimong (the victim), he heard him screaming for help and rushed to see what was happening only to find him bleeding in his house.

“He had been attacked and stabbed in the stomach by the assailants,” said Musinguzi.

According to Musinguzi, they immediately mobilized and transported Otimong to Mubende hospital where he was hospitalized.

Frank Baine, Uganda Prisons Service spokesperson said that he was yet to receive information about the incident.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, says that police have since recovered a blood-stained knife and a T-shirt believed to have been left behind by the attackers.

Hakiza noted that the regional police are already investigating the attack and vowed to arrest the culprits behind the attack.
