KAMPALA, UGANDA: Next Media Services journalists Daniel Lutaaya and Benson Ongom have resigned from NBS Television with the two now being rumoured to join parliament.
Lutaaya and Ongom have been one of the top senior investigative journalists with the latter being the station’s senior correspondent and head of its bureau in Northern Uganda.
In his Thursday tweet, Lutaaya confirmed that June 30 was his last day at the Naguru-based station and he is therefore signing out after four good years with the Next Media Services empire.
“Hello friends, CHOGM-Rwanda was my final assignment for @nbstv and today is my last day. A great 4 years at this great station have finally come to an end,” a tweet from his account reads.
He thanked his boss, Mr. Kin Kariisa for the mentorship and opportunity to work at one of the biggest media houses in the country.
“Thank you @KKariisa for the opportunity and mentorship. Thank you the NBS newsroom for the support,” he said, before adding; “To you, the viewers, thank you for watching and thank you for loving me, my stories and my ki-voice.? I can’t wait to tell you all about my next move.”
Although the pair did not Hun at their next move, a source familiar with them confirmed to DailyExpress that they are set to join fellow journalist and former workmate Sabiiti Joseph in Speaker Among’s press team.
This website could not independently verify the report but the source that preferred anonymity repeatedly reiterated the statement to this reporter.
Daniel Lutaaya started his journalism on Joy FM then worked at Life TV and Galaxy FM before landing a job at then WBS Television where he worked for over 3 years gaining most of his experience on screen as a news anchor and Morning Show host.
After Kwese TV took over WBS TV, Daniel Lutaaya shifted to working in Sports on Kwese before being recruited by NBS TV in 2018 after he was handpicked by the Media CEO Kin Kariisa who was impressed by the journalist’s work at the previous media company WBS TV.
At the time of writing, neither the Station, nor any of the journalists had come out to issue an official statement regarding the development, but we will keep you posted on the developments.
