Security guard arrested for shooting colleague dead at Stanbic Bank

Dickens Ogwoko, 27, is said to have killed Barbra Kiiza, 28 in a shooting incident that happened at the bank premises on Sunday, July 17.

KAGADI, UGANDA: The territorial police in Kagadi district have arrested a private security guard at Stanbic Bank branch in the district for shooting dead a female colleague at the bank premises.

Dickens Ogwoko, 27, is said to have killed Barbra Kiiza, 28 in a shooting incident that happened at the bank premises on Sunday, July 17.
The deceased was attached to Security Group Africa (SGA) and a resident of Kiryaba Bugambe Sub County in Kikuube District.

One of the eyewitnesses at the scene of crime, Mr. Andrew Tugume narrates that Ms. Kiiza died from a single gunshot after a loud scream during the scuffle with the private guard.

“We heard one gunshot and on rushing to the scene, we found the woman saying you “have killed me” as she lay down in a pool of blood. She died a few minutes later,” Tugume told police as officers manned the scene to gather more evidence to aid in the investigations.

The Kagadi District Police Commander (DPC), Mr. Moses Muzima Kiconco confirmed the incident and said the suspect is now under police custody as investigations into the murder allegations continue.

Muzima said; “The have been only two at the workplace but Ogwoko doesn’t explain to us whether there was an attacker. He is the one whom we found armed with the company rifle and a cartridge has been recovered at the scene from the same weapon,” Mr. Muzima noted.

“Ogwoko is going to tell us more and he will be in a position to reveal the cause of the shooting.’’

The deceased’s body was taken to Kagadi general hospital mortuary for postmortem.
