Four brutally murdered in Kakumiro

The deceased persons have been identified as; Kereb Ndyamuhajyi 28, Devine Haijuka 1 and Joan Rwangireho 4 while the lynched suspect was identified as Emmanuel Kiiza.

KAKUMIRO, UGANDA: Police in Kakumiro is investigating circumstances under which a 48-year-old man raided Rwamata village in Mpasana town council hacking three people to death before he was also lynched by an angry mob.

The incident happened on Friday night at around 9p.m.

The deceased persons have been identified as; Kereb Ndyamuhajyi 28, Devine Haijuka 1 and Joan Rwangireho 4 while the lynched suspect was identified as Emmanuel Kiiza.

It is alleged that Kiiza who resides in Kyobu village in Kisiita sub county raided Rwamata village and hacked the trio for yet unknown reasons before angry residents turned against him and lynched him.

Posiano Kibuuka, the Rwamata village LCI Chairperson told Uganda Radio Network (URN) in an interview on Saturday that they heard the victims screaming for help and rushed to see what was happening, only to find the trio lying dead in a pool of blood.

He says after committing the offense, Kiiza took off but area residents pursued and apprehended him. They later lynched him.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region Police spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying Police has launched investigations to ascertain the motive of the attack .

He says the bodies of the deceased persons have been picked by Police that later conveyed them to Kakumiro health center IV mortuary where they are currently lying pending postmortem.
