BUNDIBUGYO, UGANDA: Two Bridges connecting Mirimbi Subcounty and Ngite in Bundibugyo were on Tuesday evening washed away by flash floods leading to paralyzed transport in the district.

The bridges that burst due to the heavy rains that rocked the area from Monday midday until Tuesday morning blocked pedestrians, motorists, and several schoolchildren from going to school and farmers who had gone uphill to work on their farms on the slopes of Masule and Kasulenge hills in Ngite sub-county.

The LCII Chairperson Ngite Parish Mr. Erisa Mughani urged the government to support the community before people lose lives by drowning since the rains are expected to continue for the whole month of August.

Masule 1 LC1 chairperson Thomas Muhindo hosted many people at his home after they failed to cross River Lugo on Monday night, a situation he said is common during the rainy seasons in Bundibugyo district.

He called upon the government to construct a more reliable Bridge at the river.
