KAPALA, UGANDA: President Museveni, the Commander in Chief (CiC) of the armed forces has appointed Brig. Gen David Mugisha the new commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC), the elite unit of the UPDF charged with guarding the president and members of the first family.
Brig. Mugisha replaces Brigadier Felix Busizoori who has since swapped positions with him in the reshuffles announced on Thursday evening.
The new SFC Boss who was formerly the deputy commander of the elite army was currently the deputy commander of the UPDF third division based in Moroto, a position now taken by his predecessor Brig Felix Busizoori.
Before being sent to Moroto as the third division deputy commander, Mugisha also served as the deputy SFC commander and was replaced by Brig Charity Bainababo.
In the same reshuffle, Museveni transferred Col Herbert Nabimanya from the SFC to the UPDF Land Forces and sent Maj Gen Samuel Kawagga who has been the commander of the UPDF first Infantry Division in Kakiri in Wakiso district to Nairobi-Kenyan as the defence advisor.
Maj Gen Kawagga has been replaced by Brig Joseph Ssemwanga as the first division commander.
Gen Museveni also promoted Lt Col Allan Matsiko to the rank of Colonel, while Maj Duncan Kafeero has been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.
