Museveni Re-Appoints Col. Deo Akiiki as Deputy Army Spokesperson

His appointment takes immediate effect replacing Lt. Col Ronald Kakurungu has served in the position in an acting capacity role since June last year.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: President Museveni, the commander in chief of the armed forces has re-appointed Col Deo Asiimwe Akiiki as the substantive Deputy Defence Spokesperson.

His appointment takes immediate effect replacing Lt. Col Ronald Kakurungu who has served in the position for the months.

Col Deo Akiiki is a veteran military publicist who has worked as a spokesperson for several army divisions across the country including the UPDF second division.

In July last month, he graduated from the Senior Command and Staff College (SCSC), Kimaka in Jinja City in which he excelled as the best student at central lecture hall contributions.

Col. Akiiki started serving in the office of deputy army spokesperson in March 2017 when he was appointed to that position deputizing Brig. Richard Karemire who was later replaced by Brig. Flavia Byekwaso and recently now occupied by Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye.

Akiiki also served as the UPDF fifth infantry division spokesperson, AMISOM Public Information Officer in Somalia, and also the Director of Strategic Communication in the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs.

He is also a graduate of strategic security studies at the National Defence University in Washington DC,USA.

He was last year promoted to the rank of Colonel, in a promotion that has been described as one meant to reward him for the service he has offered to the country.
