KAMPALA, UGANDA: Victoria University Kampala over the weekend held its 6th Graduation ceremony as hundreds of students graduated with Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the different course programs.
The graduation festival was on Saturday 3rd September 2022 held at the magnificent Speke Resort Munyonyo as artistes, celebrities and comedians flamboyantly graced the festival, first of its kind in Uganda.
In his remarks to the graduating students, Victoria University Vice Chancellor Prof Lawrence Muganga urged them not to be afraid of new challenges but stay focused and flexible with the changing dynamics of the world.
“At this moment in history, the world has a hunger for a resource like you: one unafraid of new challenges, one with the tenacity to surmount the insurmountable; one with the foresight to anticipate the unforeseeable, one with the flexibility to adapt to the world,” Muganga said.
The University Chancellor Prof. Opuda-Asibo John said he is sure experiential learning as a model has been a rewarding experience and pledged the University leadership to demonstrate the best of its rewards.
“With a conducive working and study environment enjoyed at Victoria University, a platform to succeed is inevitable,” Prof. Asibo said.
The Chancellor assured that Victoria University will retain its place at the summit as ‘change makers’ if it commits to attracting top-tier staff and top-tier students.
The Minister of State for Higher Education John Chrysestom Muyingo who graced the ceremony as the chief guest lauded the remarkable transformations at the University, saying “Victoria University students are a safe pair of hands; one of a kind not synonymous with strikes.”
Victoria University has ditched the old, sleepy, boring graduations ceremonies-style; and have introduced an experience where all East Africa’s top entertainers and musicians get to take part in marking a new step for our students to join the world of work.
VU, on road to becoming one of the solution universities in the region recently acquired a Charter, granted by President Yoweri Museveni last month, after the approval of the National Council for Higher Education and the Ministry of Education and Sports.
“This was a confirmation of our new path we have created in the country’s higher education. This path starts from the day you express interest in joining Victoria University, to the moment you graduate. We make you have an education with experience,” says Conan Businge, the Head of Marketing, Victoria University.
Artists who graced the function on Saturday included among others Eddy Kenzo, Levixone, Spice Diana, King Saha, Ykee Benda, Liamu, The Baninas, & Aganaga. It’s was also a festival where the likes of Salvador, Madrat & Chiko, and Viana Indi had a field day.
