KAMPALA, UGANDA; Police in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which a man jumped off a building at Mulago hospital and died instantly yesterday (Sunday) morning.
The deceased has been identified as Joseph Wasswa, a resident of Kyebando in Kawempe division in Kampala.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire says Wasswa who was not a patient at Mulago hospital just walked in at one of the buildings and climbed up to the fifth block of the building and jumped, killing himself instantly.
“The police at Wandegeya are investigating a suicide. This incident happened yesterday at about 9am. Investigations are trying to find out how he gained access to Mulago referral hospital to level,” Owoyesigyire said.
“He jumped off the roof top and landed on relatively a soft ground that had been dug,” he added.
By press time, police had handed over the body of the deceased to his family as investigations continue.
