Museveni departs for Nairobi to attend Ruto’s swearing-in

I have this morning departed for Nairobi, Kenya to witness the inauguration of H.E @WilliamsRuto as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya.

President Yoweri K Museveni, has today morning departed for Nairobi, Kenya, to join other Heads-Of-State and dignitaries at the swearing in of newly elected Kenyan President, H.E William Samoei Ruto.

The president confirmed this in a tweet sent out on Tuesday morning saying ” I have this morning departed for Nairobi, Kenya to witness the inauguration of H.E @WilliamsRuto as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya.”

Dr. William Ruto will today be sworn in as the fifth President of Kenya within an hour of his arrival at Kasarani International Stadium today.

The capital Nairobi’s 60,000-seat Kasarani Sports Centre was by 5 a.m packed to full capacity by Ruto’s supporters dressed in his party’s colours of yellow and green. They danced and waved miniature national flags as a band played music from the podium.

The swearing-in and inauguration will kick off with the entry of President Uhuru Kenyatta aboard the Commander-in-Chief’s ceremonial vehicle.

President Kenyatta will then inspect a full parade mounted by the Kenya Defence Forces under Lt-Col Gilbert Kinanga’s command.

Ruto has served as Kenyatta’s deputy since 2013, but they fell out after the 2017 election. Kenyatta backed opposition leader Raila Odinga to succeed him in the August election and denounced Ruto as unfit for office.
