MANAFWA: District councillor murdered in cold blood

According to The Elgon region Police Spokesperson, Mr Rogers Taitika, the deceased who reportedly left his home to attend a funeral was found dumped in river Manafwa.

MANAFWA, UGANDA; The police in Manafwa are investigating the death of Nicholas Bwayo, a district councillor who was mysteriously found dead after allegedly being murdered by unknown assailants.

Bwayo, aged 46 years was a councillor representing Buwagogo Sub County at the District Council in Manafwa.

According to The Elgon region Police Spokesperson, Mr Rogers Taitika, the deceased who reportedly left his home to attend a funeral was found dumped in river Manafwa.

“It was reported that he left home and went to the funeral of late Sande Butali but didn’t return home, only to be discovered dead by one Paul Mataki in the river,” Mr Taitika said.

Mr Taitika added that the suspected murder could have happened at Naayo village, Bunasaka parish, Buwagogo Sub County in Manafwa District.

He said the scene of crime was visited by detectives and the deceased’s body was retrieved from the river and conveyed to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem as investigations go on.

By press time, no arrests had been made so far but police appealed to people in the area who might have vital information about the case to give it to police at Manafwa Central police station.
