LIRA, UGANDA: A total of 7 LC1 Chairpersons in Agali sub county, Lira District have threaten to resign from their positions after they missed out on the Government bicycles over unclear reasons.

The LC1 chairpersons who missed are from Ocamonyang and Apanylongo parish.

A total of 600 bicycles were sent by the Ministry of Local Government to Lira District recently to aid the local council chairpersons in executing their leadership activities within their communities.

However, in their memo to the top leaders in the district the LCs questioned the motive behind their missing and threatened to resign unless they get an explanation.

Jimmy Owiny, the LC1 Chairperson of Acanpii ‘A’ village wondered how the government can give them ex-gratia and forget their bicycle.
‘’There is a need for explanation by the District leaders to calm us down less we resign,’’ Owiny said.

The Local Council 3 chairperson of Agali Sub County, Alex Okello said the affected LCs are substantially elected and have been given instruments of power such as stamps which mean they deserve the bicycle.
