NAPAK, UGANDA: The officer in charge of criminal investigations at Iriiri police station, Mr Joseph Odeke has been arrested on allegations of defiling a primary four pupil of Kapuwat primary school in Iriiri sub-county in Napak district.
Mr Odeke is said to have defiled the 15-year-old girl in August this year but was arrested on Sunday, October 23, after the girl’s parents lodged a complaint at the police station.
Micheal Longole, the Mt Moroto Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the development, saying Police takes all allegations against their own seriously.
Longole adds that Police has dispatched a team of investigators to handle the matter to its logical conclusion and appealed to the community in Iriiri to cooperate with them and provide whatever information they can.
The victim’s father, Muhammad Lomong, says that he learned of the crime late since he has been up and down fending for his family.
“I would have reported this matter as early as it had happened if I had noticed. My daughter was fearing me thinking I would beat her when she tells me,” he said.
