WATCH?: Police release another CCTV Footage of boda boda accidents in Kampala

The video (which appears disturbing to watch) shows a series of accidents that happened in the capital and its surroundings, many of which occurred at roundabouts and road junctions are largely attributed to careless riding by motorists.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: As a routine to caution the public on reckless driving, the Traffic Police has released another compilation of CCTV footage of boda-boda accidents in Kampala and its suburbs captured in October 2022.

The video (which appears disturbing to watch) shows a series of accidents that happened in the capital and its surroundings, many of which occurred at roundabouts and road junctions are largely attributed to careless riding by motorists.

The majority of the video shows errant drivers of vehicles especially trucks and taxi drivers crashing with boda boda riders in the middle of the road.

In the 2021 Annual Crime and Traffic/Road Safety Report that was released in May this year, of the 4,159 road accident fatalities nationwide, 1,390 were motorcyclists, while 528 were passengers on motorcycles.

According to the report, there were 17443 road accidents reported in 2021, an increase of 42% from the 12249 reported the previous year.

A survey by Uganda Road Fund also indicated that only one in every 10 riders received riding training from a professional instructor.
