PHOTOS: Rajiv makes surprise appearance at Kaliro Sugar Rally

KALIRO, UGANDA: Thirty-four drivers were in action on day one of the Kaliro Sugar rally over the weekend in the districts of Iganga and Jinja in Eastern Uganda.

The event which went well organized, attended, and with no causalities or fatalities attracted among others over 34 drivers racing for five sections totalling a distance of 303km altogether for the two-day event.

The biggest highlight of day one of the rally was the surprise appearance of Rally ace driver Rajiv Ruparelia, the chairman board of trustees Central Motor Club (CMC) and also the managing director of the Speke group the major sponsor of CMC.

The appearance of Rajiv at different sections of the rally excited so many fans who were wondering why he was a spectator and not a driver.

At the end of day one, Duncan Mubiru driving a Ford Fiesta Proto was leading the log ahead of day two which returns in action today (Sunday). Below are the top standings from Kaliro Sugar Rally day one race.

The CMC rally was initially scheduled to be held in Mubende and Kasanda but was shifted to the Eastern districts by the organisers to give rally fans a thrilling experience of the motorsport activity.
