PICTORIAL: Finance Trust Bank unveils new Head Office as it marks 38 years

The bank, which serves over 500,000 customers to date says of sixty percent (60%) of these are women despite opening its doors to everyone since rebranding its name to Finance Trust Bank Limited to accommodate all age groups and genders.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Finance Trust Bank (FTB) has unveiled the institution’s new Head Office as part of its celebrations on the 38th-anniversary mark.

The bank’s new Head Office and Corporate Branch was opened on Friday 16th December 2022 at TWED Plaza, Lumumba Avenue in Nakasero – Kampala, marking a shift from the bank’s headquarters in Katwe, a city suburb.

The ceremony that highlighted the launch of the new FTB head office was attended by the Bank’s board members, senior management, staff, invited guests and the media.

Mrs Anne Nakawunde, the Managing Director FTB in her remarks said that the unveiling of a corporate branch is a strategic move to reposition the bank for its next phase of growth.

“The decision to relocate our head offices is right because what you used to be microfinance customers have since grown to be corporates and they now deserve the service of being corporates,” Ms Nakawunde said, noting that, the previous location had turned inaccessible for the regulator, customers, and bank shareholders.

Ms Nakawunde also reported that Finance Trust Bank is one of the most profitable commercial banks in Uganda with a large network of 35 branches including one in Kalangala islands.

Finance Trust Bank (FTB) has a large branch network of 35 branches (including Kalangala) serving over 500,000 customers countrywide. The bank currently serves over 500,000 savers and 29,000 borrowers,” she said.

The MD further revealed that FTB’s goal is to be the bank of choice while efficiently delivering a range of highly competitive financial services to their customers, especially women.

In her remarks, Dr Evelyn Kigozi Kahiigi, Board Chairperson, stated, “From a small NGO to a successful commercial bank of 38 years, today we take pride in this significant milestone that the bank has attained.”

Mr. Tumubweine Twinemanzi, Executive Director, Bank Supervision Directorate of the Bank of Uganda who presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest lauded the bank’s effort over the past 38 years and congratulated the Board & Management on making this daring bold move that speaks to the strategic decision of where you want to go next as a bank.

“I want to commend the management and the board for taking this institution from where you did to where it is today. It’s a demonstration of a certain level of fortitude that is rarely seen these days,” Dr. Twinemanzi said. But he warned that the bigger journey is ahead.

Dr Twinemanzi also urged the bank to pay close attention to the risks associated with relying on technology to provide services.
