Mayuge police praised for security on Christmas day

Under the command of the District Police Commander – DPC Bashir Siriba, the officers and men in uniform ensured the safety of the people and their property in the district.

MAYUNGE, UGANDA: Police in Mayuge district have been praised for their work over the festive period given the increased security in the area.

Under the command of the District Police Commander – DPC Bashir Siriba, the officers and men in uniform ensured the safety of the people and their property in the district.

In an interview, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner(RDC) Mayuge district, Trevor Solomon Baleke told DailyExpress on Tuesday that police was put on alert to tackle the issues of security ranging from violence to the biggest crimes.

“We worked with the local leaders, informants and trained security operatives. They did a commendable job and we are making sure that Mayuge is rid of criminality. The criminals should know our district boundaries,” said Baleke.

His comments follow an earlier presser in which he warned that they wouldn’t tolerate anybody planning to cause security tension in Mayuge during this festive season.

“We have dealt with thefts, road collisions, drink driving, domestic violence among others and I can assure you that we are peaceful. Even after the festive season, we shall not give criminals any chance, let them know our boundaries lest we shall handle them,” added Baleke whose working method is cherished by locals.

Baleke said it was through good mobilization and sensitization of the wanainchi that the locals have started giving voluntary information to the security teams within the district.

“The wanainchi are a very important part of our workforce since they sometimes give up their own time in order to support policing in our community. That is the patriotism we need. Policing and tackling anti-social behaviour shall continue even after this season.” Baleke emphasized.
