BUGWERI: MP Magoola lobbies houses for underprivileged widows

Magoola who is serving her first term in parliament says she lobbied four houses from her friends in the United States of America (USA) for the most unprivileged widows in the district.

BUGWERI, UGANDA: The woman member of parliament for Bugweri district Hon Racheal Magoola has supported underprivileged widows by constructing for them houses so as to improve their standard of living.

Magoola popularly known as Obangaina, who is serving her first term in parliament says she lobbied four houses from her friends in the United States of America (USA) for the most unprivileged widows in the district.

The widows were selected from various parts of the district and they included Ms Nangobi Aisha from Busimo ‘B’ village in Makuutu Sub-county, Ms Kawuma Florence Aida from Bubonghe village in Igombe sub-county, Ms Kose Joyce from Butende in Busesa town council and Namatembe Jane from Idudi ‘A’ village in Idudi town council.

Speaking at the launch of the construction exercise in Butende, Busesa town council, Hon Magoola said they are starting with only four vulnerable widows but there is a possibility of expanding the project to accommodate more widows. She says that the construction will be completed in less than a month.

“We have launched the construction of houses for vulnerable windows in the Bugweri district. We have launched the construction and these houses will be completed in less than a month we assure you that with time, more widows will be included in this program,” Magoola said before saying that they intend to have a community centre for youths and women skilling.

She adds that her American friends are willing to renovate one of the health centres in Bugweri district.

The launch was attended by the chairperson of Ibulanku sub county Ndhoga Ibrahim, who doubles as the chairperson of Busesa town council. Ndhoga commended Hon Magoola for prioritizing her people and ensuring that they live a good life.

Ms Kose Joyce, one of the beneficiaries from Butende appreciated the MP for fulfilling the promise she made earlier at the beginning of her term in office.
“I thank Hon Magoola for fulfilling what she promised. She promised to construct for me a house and the work has started,” Kose said.

Nangobi Aisha, another beneficiary said she has been having a poor shelter and commended Hon Magoola for partnering with people from America to support them with good shelter.
