LIST: Victoria University awards 2022 best performing staff, celebrates Charter status

During the same function, the university recognized the best performing staff who have been so impactful to the University’s growth for the past year (2022).

Victoria University Kampala, Uganda’s leading private University celebrated a milestone of attaining a Charter Status from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), the overall regulator of institutions of higher learning in the country.

On July 31, 2022, President Yoweri Museveni signed and approved the charter status of Victoria University, becoming the 11th private chartered university in Uganda. The charter acquisition henceforth proved to be an endorsement of the quality education the institution offers to not only the Ugandan community but also the students from the diaspora.

Speaking at the function held inside the University Auditorium on Saturday, 11th February 2022, the university Vice Chancellor Dr Muganga revealed that Victoria University does not look at itself as just an African University but a worldwide University with currently a student community of people emerging from 51 countries.

“So we want to be a university that of course serves Ugandan, Sub-Saharan African, South Africans, but most importantly, serves the entire world. Until we achieve the highest standard you would ever need in an internationally recognized university,” Dr Muganga said.

Dr Muganga attributed world-class facilities, technological innovations like the online class dubbed Vclass, and highly qualified lecturers among others as being key for the attainment of the charter status, a higher level license in Uganda’s education standards.

“To us, a Charter means our standard is unique and everyone should cherish it because the government took us through all inspections and confirmed that we are indeed fit to have a Charter. So, I want to assure students that at VU we give world-class value, having this Charter means we meet every criterion set by Government but also means we are among the best internationally and we continue to prioritize experiential learning and giving quality education that skills and empowers our students to beat the employment barriers in the job market,” he said.

“That means that if we take our education elsewhere around the country like we have done in Africa, in the rest of the world, we occupy a space where we offer value that every person who comes to Victoria University experiences something that changes their lives,” he added.
