KABALE, UGANDA: The police in Kabale district have in custody a 49-year-old man arrested for defiling and impregnating a 14-year-old primary seven pupil.
Mr Nkuruziza Etienne alias Kazungu, a resident of Kigongi “B” cell, Central division, Kabale municipality is said to have allegedly lured the 14-year-old girl who is also a resident of the same village.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, the suspect who is a neighbour to the girl’s residence had carnal knowledge with the girl between the month of August and September 2022 in the evening hours when she had gone to watch a movie at his place.
Maate says the pregnancy was realized at Bugongi preparatory primary school in Sheema town council, where she had gone back to school for the first term in Primary Seven where she was subjected to a medical examination which they always do for all children.
Immediately the school authorities discovered the pregnancy, Maate says they communicated to the parents, who then opened up a case at Kabale Police station where an investigation was launched and the suspect arrested.
