Promote gov’t projects than holding grudges – Babalanda urges Bugweri leaders

The Minister for Presidency Hon Babirye Milly Babalanda has tasked people in Bugweri district, especially the leaders, to avoid grudges against individuals and the ruling government channel all energy to promoting government programs and fighting disunity amongst the locals.

BUGWERI, UGANDA: The Minister for Presidency Hon Babirye Milly Babalanda has tasked people in Bugweri district, especially the leaders, to avoid grudges against individuals and the ruling government channel all energy to promoting government programs and fighting disunity amongst the locals.

Hon Minister Babalanda was on Friday addressing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) fraternity who gathered at Saza ground in Busesa town council to celebrate the belated Liberation day.

National liberation day is celebrated annually and this year’s celebrations were in Kakumiro district, however, Bugweri district decided to celebrate it today, led by Hon Minister Babalanda as the chief guest.

“You should work together and avoid carrying personal grudges which is letting the district down. Let us meditate and avoid hating fellow leaders and the government, disunity and speaking ill about others is not necessary but we need to embrace instead government programs like Parish Development Model(PDM), Emyooga, among others,” Hon Minister said before urging leaders in Bugweri district to sensitive the public about the programs and avoid words of disunity.

She commended the government for bringing peace despite being misused by others who end up abusing leaders without sticking to venturing into developmental projects.

“I thank the NRM government for bringing peace which most of people are using, though others are misusing the peace. We should not use this peace to abuse our leaders but use it in developmental ventures to embrace the peace brought by NRM government in command of President Museveni,” Minister added before rallying people to support NRM unceasingly as away of demanding for better services.

Babalanda challenged the NRM fraternity in the district to change their mindset and focus on developmental things which promotes love for others as well as love for their country(patriotism).

However, the woman member of parliament Bugweri district, Hon Racheal Magoola alias Obangaina together with the district LCV chairperson Hajji Shafiq Muziransa used this platform to remind Hon Minister about the unfulfilled pledges from government especially road units and the district administration block which was pioneered by late Hon Kirunda Kivejinjja(KK) who died when it’s at the foundation stage.

“The government has constructed health centres, and seed schools, among others but we need support on the road networks and the administration block. We request government to help us construct the block in honour of the deceased KK who selflessly worked with this government,” Hon Magoola said.

Mr Muziransa says that they need to complete the 6.5 billion magnificent structure which is currently at foundation stage. He said that the working environment is not conducive to the district workers and this has affected service delivery because some workers are taking it as an advantage to abscond from work.

The function also attractive H.E Zaake Kibedi, the Uganda ambassador to United Arab Emirates (UAE) who pledged to lobby factories and industries if Bugweri district gazettes land for an industrial park.

The chairperson for district NRM chairpersons in Busoga, who doubles as the NRM chairperson Iganga district Hajji Walubi Abubakar warned people in Bugweri against hypocrisy but instead stick to the truth which will push the party forward.

“The problem in Bugweri is you the people of Bugweri and if you don’t change, they will continue using you. How comes that someone who doesn’t appear anywhere on NRM structures is the one controlling your views,” Hajji Walubi said before saying that they are fed up with people who changes day and night, saying they won’t allow anyone against President Museveni and NRM to flourish on cost of the party.

The LC3 chairperson Ibulanku sub-county and Busesa town council Ndhoga Ibrahim was concerned with the rampant suspicious acts of homosexuality in schools and other institutions hence calling upon all leaders to join government in fighting the ungodly vice.

Present at the function were; RDC Bugweri Janet Billy Mulindwa and her deputy Kato Dauda, RDC Iganga Wandera Sadala, RDC Mayuge Richard Gulume Balyaino, RDC Namayingo Deborah Mwesigwa Mugerwa, RDC Busia Kibwika Micheal, LCV Chairperson Iganga, Gabula Ezera, former LCV chairperson Kamuli district Thomas Kategere, LCV chairperson Bugiri Mulumba Kasajja Davidson, Bugweri district NRM leadership and structures, NRM fraternity, among others.
