“According to information we have as police, this lady was allegedly killed by her ex-lover who was identified as Salim, a resident of Bugweri district. Yesterday(Wednesday), the suspect is believed to have used a sharp instrument and stubbed Asio in the chest, hands, and head, as she was coming back from work and was rushed to Alshafa health facility where she died after serious bleeding,” ASP Mubi said.

It is alleged that in 2020, Salim fell in love with the deceased and they stayed in Bugembe and Mukono but later Salim turned violet and could reportedly assault the girlfriend before she returned to Bugembe to live at her mother’s place with the pregnancy.

ASP Mubi said in a Thursday statement that Salim kept on tracing and following Asio though she had given up on him after reflecting bad behaviors.

“The deceased gave up on Salim but he kept on following her and recently bought her a phone which Asiyo took to her mother. The mother ordered her daughter to take back the phone since she was still suspicious of the behaviors of Salim,” Mubi added.

However, Police has assured the people of Bugembe in Jinja that the suspect will be arrested from wherever he is hiding and shall be charge with murder before presenting him to court.

“We want to urge married people and those in relationships that separating as lovers is not a big deal but it’s a usual thing and you cannot turn shame into anger to the extent of planning to injure or kill your ex-lover.” Mubi said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Mubi advised men to always face the responsibilities of their children even after separating as lovers. He said that a man is deemed responsible for educating, dressing, feeding and treating his children among others.
