PROFILE: Meet Husinah Nassuna, a 21-year-old VU student eyeing the Miss Uganda 2023 crown

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The grand finale of Miss Uganda 2023 will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Serena Hotel-Kampala.

The annual beauty contest that celebrates ambitious Ugandan young women will this year run under the theme; “Beauty Beyond Looks” as a total of twenty-one beauties selected from all regions battle it out to become the country’s most ambitious woman.

Among this year’s finalists is Victoria University’s Husinah Nassuna, a beauteous and curvaceous student who hails from the central region of Masaka District.

Husinah, 21, aims to take the crown from Elizabeth Bagaya the reigning champion of the beauty pageant.

Nassuna’s life story is one of resilience, determination, and hope. Despite a rocky childhood, she emerged a survivor and a proud daughter of a strong and unwavering mother.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in nursing at Victoria University Kampala, Nassuna chose nursing because she believes in the power of human connection. Nassuna understands the importance of comforting patients during their most difficult moments, and she is passionate about being there for them every step of the way.

Self-motivated, hardworking, and empathetic, Nassuna is a natural-born listener who enjoys making people happy. She is a beacon of hope to those around her and takes pride in being a symbol of strength and perseverance.

One of her role models and mentors is the incomparable Sheebah Karungi, whose determination and laser-focus have taught her some of life’s most valuable lessons: no matter what you’re going through, stay focused, and never lose sight of your goals.

Nassuna’s unwavering faith in God is a testament to her belief that anything is possible with faith and hard work. Her story is one of triumph over adversity and serves as a reminder to us all that we can achieve greatness if we keep pushing forward.

What she says

According to Husinah, “The truth is as girls we meet a couple of barriers in life and most of these lower our hopes to achieve our good and very possible dreams, so in brief, if I happen to be the Miss Uganda 2023, I will work tirelessly not only to uplift the voices of girl child but also empower them in all possible ways so that they achieve that brighter future they yearn for.”

“It’s therefore my humble prayer to all Ugandans to vote for me at least everyday for the next 22 days we’re left with, till we are declared the winners for this crown on 19th March 2023. I promise my voters that they won’t regret for supporting me as am so ready to deliver the best out of me, thank you,” she adds.
