KAMPALA, UGANDA: At just 20 years, Allan Kato, better known on social media as Iconic Kent Kris is one of Uganda’s successful digital influencers who dreams that one day he will become one of the most celebrated digital media personalities in the country.
Kent Kris who has built over one million organic followers on his social media handles (Twitter & Instagram) and 15k+ subscribers on YouTube has made some good money by collaborating with brands on sponsored posts, plus doing affiliate marketing and selling social media promos and ads.
The Kawempe-born fashionista sat down with DailyExpress and discussed some of the best strategies to reap big from the filthy-rich social media industry and why he chases passion over success for digital fashion influencing.
His Early life & Education
Born on 13th November 2003 in Makerere Kikoni, a Kampala suburb, Kent Kris is the last born in a family of eight, with six sisters and one twin brother.
He attended Makerere Primary School and Kasubi Family Primary School for primary education and later joined New Styles SS for high school. He never went far with education and therefore stopped in high school.
His love for Social Media
Kent Kris prides himself to be one of the best local Social Media Influencers and also juggles life with being a Fashionista and YouTuber with a growing fanbase. He started his journey in 2017 and is working really hard in his field. He achieved a lot of followers on Instagram and other social media platforms and is quite an expert in this field now.
After putting a lot of effort into digital marketing and advertising agencies, Kent Kris finally discovered his interest in inspiring people through his work. After that, he started his career as a social media influencer because he had a lot of knowledge about digital platforms and how it works.
Achievements
For a young man who came from a poor family managed by a single mother, Kent Kris has managed to buy his first piece of land worth UGX 30M in Kampala and built rentals on it.
He has also built her mum a house with the help of his sisters and as of today his achievements obtained through social media blogging and fashion modeling are worth UGX200M+.
That’s not it all, he also runs a foundation through which he helps a lot of poor families and children in his home village.

Kris says he is inspired by lots of successful entrepreneurs and celebrities in the country, a list that includes Bobi Wine, Fik Fameica, Spice Diana, Eddy Kenzo, Abyranz, and Sheebah, among others. He is also inspired by Ugandan businessmen like Hamis Kiggundu, SK Mbuga, and Godfrey Kirumira. “Those people have inspired me a lot and that’s why I am working so hard to make sure I can be like them,” Kris says.
What are some of the successful tips to building a strong social media presence
When asked what could be better than having a social media star himself? Kent Kris divulged to this website some of the tips that you can subtly apply to build a social media platform that earns you millions.
1. Keep a realistic approach: Kris says that it’s important to be realistic in front of the audience. There is no one out there who is fool enough to not catch the unrealistic content at different platforms. So the key is to keep your approach towards the audience really subtle and unique.
2. Unique content: Kent Kris himself is really versatile while creating content. Either YouTube videos or Instagram content there should be something unique that is not available at any other site or account.
3. The balance between trend and style: Kent Kris says it’s important to balance between trend and style. This is not good to follow a trend blindly meanwhile this will influence your audience so keeping it really is way too important so that it won’t become controversial for you at a level.
4. Promotion is important: You need to invest also when you want to start anything. Sometimes your followers become stable and to increase it you need to do time-to-time promotions. So contact the promotional companies to make yourself gain more audience.
5. Choosing relevant promotional projects: Another thing that is also important for earning a worthwhile is choosing a promotional project either from a brand of clothes or something else. Keep it really organized. Don’t just do it for the sake of money. Try to keep it real for the audience.
His Future Plans
With over half a million (500k+) followers on Social media, Kris has earned quite good net worth and wants to make his audience entertained by joining Bugawood as an actor. He also has a dream of becoming a TV & Radio Personality and he sets to go back to school so that he can achieve his dream career.
Iconic Kent Kris also has a dream of becoming a traveller and he is set to start his journey of travelling the World. He also wants to become a real estate investor and that’s why he is investing into building rentals.
To ensure that he accomplishes the majority of his objectives, he committed to devoting a significant amount of his time to his job as an influencer. Kent Kris says with his diverse knowledge about his career, he is looking forward to changing the way people perceive the field.
