Armed gunmen shoot security guard dead at Wakiso school

Police in Wakiso is on a manhunt for unknown gunmen who attacked and shot dead a security guard at a private school while injuring another.

WAKISO, UGANDA: Police in Wakiso is on a manhunt for unknown gunmen who Thursday afternoon attacked and shot dead a security guard at a private school while injuring another.

According to the KMP Deputy Spokesperson ASP Owoyesigyire, the attack happened at around 1 pm at St. Edwards College Galamba in Gombe Division, Kasangati in Wakiso district.

Owoyesigyire identified the deceased as Anguyo Christopher, 29, and the injured colleague as Okwanga Ceasar, 26, who were both deployed at the school gate when the afternoon attack happened.

“Unknown persons attacked the college and killed Anguyo Christopher, a 29-year-old guard. Another guard, Okwang Ceasar, aged 26, was seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment at Mulago Hospital,” Owoyesgyire said in a brief police statement.

Owoyesgyire adds that upon learning of the incident, police rushed to the scene, and found a rope with suspected blood stains, a damaged bow, and arrows as well as the phone which belonged to the deceased.

“The motive of the murder is currently unknown since nothing is missing at school. We would like to assure the public that we will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of everyone in the community.”

By press time, the deceased’s body had been taken to the City Mortuary for post-mortem with no arrests effected yet, but Owoyesigyire assured that police have launched a full investigation to apprehend the culprits.
