NTV Journalist Edward Muhumuza dies in Entebbe Expressway accident

The accident involving the deceased’s Toyota Passo happened today morning (Saturday) at a place called Mpala along the Entebbe Expressway, the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) confirmed in a tweet.

Edward Muhumuza, Journalist attached to Nation Media Group’s NTV Uganda has died in a fatal accident along Entebbe Express Highway.

The accident involving the deceased’s Toyota Passo happened today morning (Saturday) at a place called Mpala along the Entebbe Expressway, the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) confirmed in a tweet.

“NTV is saddened to announce the passing of our journalist, Edward Muhumuza, in a car accident. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. May his rest in peace,” the tweet by the station read Saturday morning.

The deceased’s close friend who confirmed to this publication the tragic news of the journalist, said Muhumuza was headed to school this morning when the crash happened.

“He was going to school, he spent the better part of the night working on his coursework, then in the morning he set off.”

A statement released by the Entebbe Expressway management indicated that the accident happened today (Saturday, March 25) morning at 7:30am.

“We have registered a FATAL accident today morning 25th March 2023, at around 7:30am involving One occupant who Police identified as Mr. Muhumuza Edward a staff of NTV Uganda,” the statement reads in part.

“The occupant was exiting the expressway and was opposite the Mpala Toll station. Our intervention team together with Entebbe Police have confirmed that the victim was at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle.”

Muhumuza previously worked with Vision Group before joining NTV Uganda.

The body of the deceased has been taken to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem as police further investigates the cause of the tragic car crash.
