Sironko man beheaded for allegedly loving married woman

It is alleged that the deceased was first murdered and his head chopped using a panga in a gruesome incident by unknown persons

SIRONKO, UGANDA: Police in Sironko district are investigating a murder case in which a 36-year-old man was killed and his head chopped off by yet-to-be-identified people for allegedly falling in love with a married woman.

The deceased identified as Wafula David was a resident of Bumasikye village, Kirombe parish, Bukhulo sub-county in Sironko district.

Elgon region police spokesperson ASP Rogers Taitika has confirmed the gruesome incident in a Sunday Police Statement saying that detectives have already mounted investigations into the matter.

According to Taitika, “It’s alleged that at an unknown time, the deceased left home to go and take some booze(alcohol) and it was at around 2300/c when the killers are suspected to have hacked him to death as he was chasing home,” ASP Taitika said in a statement before revealing that the matter was reported to police by Namakolo Yowanina, the chairperson of the said village.

He added that crime detectives visited the scene and preliminary information received indicate that the deceased was allegedly been in love with someone’s wife whom the locals did not reveal to police.

“The information we also received from the scene is that the deceased has allegedly been in love with someone’s wife whom they did not reveal to police at that time,” ASP Taitika said.

The body was taken to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem as police condemned the act by perpetrators for taking laws into their hands and urged people to always report or arrest suspected criminals and hand them to the police for investigations.

By press time, no suspect had been arrested but police had mounted a hunt for the killers as the reported motive was being investigated by Sironko police on case file Srk CRB 202/2023.
