Polly Namaye bounces back as deputy police spokesperson

Namaye returns to the Uganda Police after an 18 months duty with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Commissioner of Police (CP) Polly Namaye has returned to the Uganda Police as Deputy Spokesperson following an 18 months duty with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

Spokesperson Fred Enanga while addressing the media at Police Headquarters in Naguru said Namaye returns to the forces as his deputy in charge of press-related matters.

Additionally, Enanga announced that SSP Claire Nabakka who had replaced Namaye in 2022 will now handle the police’s Public Relations.

Namaye join the police in 2007 under basic police training, which involved academics, the law and internship.

From January 2009 until April 2014, at the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), she served as the regional police spokesperson for Mbarara Municipality.

In April 2014, she was transferred to the police head office in the Office of the Commissioner of Police. There, at the rank of Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, she was appointed the Deputy-in-Command for the Press and Public Relations Office.

In 2016, Namaye was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, and lately a Commissioner of Police.
