KAMPALA, UGANDA: The Anglican House of Bishops has elected Rev Canon Godfrey Kasana as the fourth Bishop of Luweero Diocese, DailyExpress has learnt.
Rev Kasana was elected after a special sitting of the House of Bishops in Kisoro district on Monday, April 3, 2023, according to a statement by the Church of Uganda provincial secretary Rev. Can. Capt. William Ongeng.
The 52-year-old priest was among the four priests who expressed interest in replacing Rev Eridard Nsubuga Kironde who is set to retire in July this year after clocking the mandatory 65 years.
He is expected to be consecrated and enthroned as the new Bishop of Luweero on July 16, 2023, at St Mark’s Cathedral, Luwero.

Rev Canon Kasana was born on January 11, 1971, in Sekamuli, Wabinyinja, Bamunanika Sub-county, and became Born Again on September 17, 1996.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Divinity from Uganda Christian University, was ordained as a deacon in 2009 and a Canon at St. Mark’s Cathedral, Luweero, in 2020.
Rev Kasana has travelled extensively, been exposed to ministry in the UK, Europe, India and South Africa, and has coordinated several international partnerships in Luwero Diocese.
He began his ministry as a lay leader and has served in different pastoral and administrative positions, including diocesan youth secretary, parish priest, archdeacon, and diocesan director of household and community transformation.
Rev Kasana is Married to Harriet Kasana and God has blessed them with seven children.
