UNEB starts registering candidates for 2023 National Examinations

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has kicked off registration for Primary and Secondary school candidates set to sit for the 2023 National Promotional Examinations.

There are three sets of examinations conducted by UNEB in an examination calendar year; the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

According to Ms Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the UNEB Spokesperson; Registration of candidates for these sets of exams commenced on April 1 and will run for two months until May 31.

Late registration will begin on June 1 and end on June 30, according to the circular released by UNEB.

For PLE candidates, Heads of centers shall use the candidates’ birth certificates for avoidance of doubt regarding the date of birth.

This year, the board has opted to maintain the registration fees at Shs34, 000 for PLE, Shs164, 000 for UCE and Shs186, 000 for UACE for privately sponsored learners while those under government sponsorship will be registered for free.

“The government, as the policy has been, will pay for all candidates funded under Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Secondary Education (USE) & Universal Post O’ Level Education and Training (UPOLET) programmes,” Ms Kalule said in a Wednesday Press Briefing.

Heads of centres have therefore been asked to start preparing the correct bio-data of the candidates along with high-resolution digital photographs.
