OPINION: Work with the gov’t in power – NRM vice chairman aspirant tells Uganda

I am Mr Ojede Ziegler Bobson – an aspirant for the position of NRM National Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda commonly known as Akuna Kulala.

With no doubt or fear I advise fellow Ugandans to work with any government in power.

Since the attainment of independence in 1962 up to date ,where Uganda is being driven by President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta, many people have witnessed enough of Uganda for sometimes with leaders after leaders and regimes after regimes.

Therefore, remember that power and authority to regulate a state,country or a nation belongs to the sitting government in any country.

I therefore urge fellow Ugandans to go with the government in power whatsoever since the governments in power have different programs to implement that leads to proper transformation and development of both the country and its citizens positively.

This calls for the citizen to be patriotic and nationalist { a person who strongly identifies with the nation vigorously} in this particular case, Uganda.

There are senior citizens in various parts of this country who served almost in all regimes that Uganda had since independence 1962 as listed below;-

1. Sir Edward Mutesa II from 1962 – 1966
2. Dr.Apollo Milton Obote (Obote I)led Uganda from 1966 – 1971
3. Gen.Idi Amin Dada then took over from 1971 – 1979
4. Yusuf Kironde Lule led Uganda from 13th April 1979 – 20th June 1979
5. Lukongwa Godfrey Binaisa from 1979 – 1980
6. Paul Muwanga – 12 May 1980 – 22 May 1980
7. Dr.Apollo Milton Obote (Obote II) – 1980 – 1985
8. Gen.Tito Okello Lutwa from 1985 – 1986
9. H.E Gen.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni right from 26th January 1986 to date.

Fellow countrymen ,fellow Ugandans, whether we like it or not these are our heroes ,because they all contributed toward moving forward for the government of this country.Most of them are no longer with us now.May their souls RIP, Amen.

However it should be noted that those senior citizens who are still alive and who served in all these regimes did not regret too much because they shifted from regime of each government one after the other, therefore working with the government in power.

Advantages of working with the government in power.

1-It makes one stable politically and develops a new political ideology that is meant to benefit all the citizens.

2-Sharing the national cake and resources and blessing for nature from the new incoming government/any government.

3-It creates room for the truth and Reconciliation being the core and foundation of coexistence.

4- Each government has programs that aim at solving contemporary social problems as a specific period of time within the new government/ regime e.g. duringCovid-19 pandemic we acknowledged and witnessed the struggle of the NRM gov’t .

Because of the above reasons or the others therefore we should go with the NRM gov’t in power.

President Museveni has reduced tribalism,segregation,secteranism,fighting corruption among others therefore we have to support him in order for him to implement more of the NRM agenda and vision 2040 in Uganda.
