Policeman killed as warriors attack two police barracks in Kotido

The development comes two days after Joint Security Forces killed a suspected notorious Karamajong warrior known as Lopusitom.

KOTIDO, UGANDA: A Police officer has been killed in a surprise attack by Karamajong warriors on two security detachments in Kotido district, North-eastern Uganda.

Mt. Moroto Police spokesperson, ASP Mike Longole speaking to this publication on Saturday morning confirmed the report and said the “Karamojong warriors last night (Friday) attacked two police detachments in Kotido district, where a cop was shot dead at Panyangara ASTU police barrack.”

Mr Longole identified the other barrack as Kawalakol detachment in Karenga where no causality was reported.

The development comes two days after Joint Security Forces killed a suspected notorious Karamajong warrior known as Lopusitom.

Lopusitom was killed in Loputuk, Odera parish, Panyangara Subcounty, Kotido District.

Security forces had trailed Lopusitom after he was identified in the Panyangara ASTU detach attack last year.

It remains unclear if the attack was to avenge the killing of Lopusitom.

Details and identities of the killed cop were not provided by the time of filing the story.
