KABALE: Preparations in high gear for Gen Muhoozi visit amidst tight security deployment

When asked whether Gen Keinerugaba will be allowed to make political statements, RDC Bakak said that he will not engage in politicking since he is still an army serving officer and it’s not time for political campaigns

KABALE, UGANDA: Preparations to welcome the senior presidential advisor in charge of special operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba are in high gear amidst heavy security deployment in Kabale district.

Gen Keinerugaba who is the first son is expected to be the guest of honour at the Katuna-Gatuna border re-opening Thanksgiving and the Rukundo Egumeho concert which is slated for 19th of April, 2023 at Kigezi play school playground-lower in Kabale municipality.

The Rwandan authorities partially reopened the border on January 31, 2022, following a lengthy dialogue by a section of African leaders including Gen Keinerugaba. Rwandan President Paul Kagame closed the borders on February 27, 2019, accusing Uganda of hosting Rwandan dissidents, abducting Rwandan nationals, and locking them in non-designated areas.

Addressing the media today morning at Kigezi play school playground-lower; the MK Movement pressure group National Vice Chairman for Western Uganda Balaam Barugahara and the Kabale District chairperson and Chairperson organizing committee Nelson Nshangabasheija said that Gen, Keneirugaba is expected to arrive in Kabale town tomorrow at 2:00 pm.

He will then make his way to Lake Bunyonyi to commission the operationalization of a boat ambulance for Bwama Health Centre III and return to officiate a football match between Rwanda Select and Kigezi Select.

Barugahare said that Gen, Kainerugaba will Wednesday make his way to Katuna border where he is expected to launch the construction of the Museveni-Kagame market in memory of the border re-opening. The day will be climaxed by a two-hour Thanksgiving at Kigezi play school playground-lower and performances by top artists from Uganda and Rwanda.

The Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner Andrew Ronald Bakak and the Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate said that officers from all security agencies are on a high alert to ensure peace and stability during the visit of the first son.
