KCCA FC appoints Jackson Mayanja as interim coach

Mayanja replaces Morley Byekwaso who resigned on Sunday after KCCA got eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by Soltilo Bright Stars at the quarterfinal stage.

KCCA FC has appointed club legend and former manager Jackson “Mia Mia’ Mayanja as the Interim Head Coach until the end of June 2023.

He comes in to replace Morley Byekwaso who resigned on Sunday after his side was eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by Soltilo Bright Stars at the quarterfinal stage.

Mayanja who is highly regarded as one of the finest players of his generation played for the Kasasiro boys between 1987 to 1992.

He then moved to Egypt side Al Masry SC and later Esperance in Tunisia and returned to KCCA FC as a player for his second stint in 1996.

Skippering the club, he led them to a semi-final berth in the CAF Confederation Cup in 1997.

His managerial stints include coaching KCC FC in 2005, then later took charge of URA FC, Bunamwaya SC, Kagera FC, Simba SC, Kyetume FC, AS Kigali (Assistant Coach), Uganda Cranes (Assistant Coach) and most recently Uganda Hippos (U20).

KCCA also made changes in its technical department with Nsanziro Sam Charles Ssenyange named the new Assistant Coach replacing Kaddu Badru Mukasa who also left the club as part of Byekwaso’s backroom staff.
