KAMPALA, UGANDA: The body of the former Secretary to the Treasury Keith Muhakanizi will be repatriated to Uganda tomorrow, Saturday, April 22, 2023.
Muhakanizi, 64, who was currently the permanent secretary in the Office of Prime Minister died last Thursday at a hospital in Millan, Italy where he had been flown for treatment accompanied by his wife, Janet Muhakanizi.
Mr Ben Kavuya, the chairman burial committee, said the body was expected in the country at 3 am Friday, but due to some challenges with the cargo, it is expected to jet into the country by 10 am tomorrow.
Upon arrival, the casket containing Muhakanizi’s remains will be taken to Kololo Airstrip for an official burial program as directed by the President last week.
After the state burial, the body will be taken to his country residence and ancestral home Kabula, Lyantonde district for a church service and burial.
The late died in Milan, Italy on April 13 after losing the battle to cancer of the bones.
