Teacher, 26, arrested for defiling 12-yr-old pupil in Mbale

The mother told police that the teacher had been allegedly luring her daughter to come to school at 5 am for coaching, and it was during these sessions that he took advantage of the minor on several occasions.

MBALE, UGANDA: Police in Mbale City are holding 26-year-old teacher for defiling a 12-year-old primary six pupil at Nabuyonga Primary School, a Government-Owned School found in Mbale District.

According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, police arrested the suspect identified as Joel Situma after receiving a report from the victim’s mother.

The mother told police that the teacher had been allegedly luring her daughter to come to school at 5 am for coaching, and it was during these sessions that he took advantage of the minor on several occasions.

The suspect is currently in custody at Mbale Central Police Station, and a medical examination has been conducted to ascertain the claims from the victim’s mother.

Police said they are awaiting advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) before proceeding to charge Situma with aggravated defilement.
