MITOOMA, UGANDA: Police in Mitooma District are investigating circumstances under which a 20 months old baby was gruesomely murdered and his private parts removed in a suspected child sacrifice act.
The deceased identified as Iden Owamani was a resident from Kigyende 1B village, Kanyabwanga Parish, Kigyende Sub county, Mitooma district in Western Uganda.
According to the father of the deceased, he left the baby under the care of his (deceased’s) elder sister on the 26th of April 2023 at around 6:30 pm and went to the garden but could not find him on returning after about 20 minutes.
Mr Marcial Tumusiime, the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson confirmed the report and said that is is true a case of a missing child has been under investigation at Mitooma CPS till today when they received information that his body was seen.
Mr Tumusiime said a postmortem was done on the body at the scene to confirm the identity of the child but they found out that the child’s private parts plus limbs were missing.
Police attributed the gruesome incident to suspected ritual activities in the area and said that detectives are on ground to gather all information that can lead them to the murderer.
