The Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations and First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is among the many politicians and public figures mourning the unfortunate demise of Blogger Isma Olaxess who was shot dead on Saturday evening.

Born Ibrahim Tusubira, Olaxess also known as Jajja Iculi was gunned down by unknown assailants just as he approached his main entrance gate at his home in Kyanja Central zone, a Kampala urban suburb.

According to the KMP Deputy PRO Mr Luke Owoyesigyire, the blogger was driving in his car Reg No UBK 213 D, with his driver, Mr Mathias Waswa when the unidentified gunman with an SMG opened fire at the blogger at around 9:20 pm resulting in his death.

“The incident took place while Mr Tusubira Ibrahim was travelling in his motor vehicle, registered under number UBK 213 D, with his driver, Mr Mathias Waswa. Preliminary reports indicate that an unidentified gunman armed with an SMG opened fire on the vehicle, resulting in the fatal shooting of Ibrahim Tusubira, who was seated in the passenger seat at the time of the attack,” ASP Owoyesgyire said in a police statement on Saturday evening.

Shortly after the news of Olaxess’ fatal shooting made rounds on social media, several politicians and public figures including fellow bloggers expressed sympathy as they mourned the late who was popularly known for his unapologetic critic on entertainment, political and social affairs.

Gen Muhoozi, the first son on Sunday morning tweeted to mourn the late blogger who closely worked with the ruling NRM government, especially during the 2021 general elections describing him as a fearless commentator on national issues.

Muhoozi urged law enforcement agencies to quickly investigate the shooting and find those behind the grievous murder to be brought to justice.

“I am very saddened to hear about the brutal killing of our compatriot Ibrahim Tusubira, aka Isma Olaxes. He was an outspoken and fearless commentator on national issues. I urge all law enforcement agencies to quickly find those behind his murder and bring them to justice,” tweeted Muhoozi on Sunday morning.

The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among in the wee hours of Sunday morning tweeted to condemn the manner in which the renowned blogger was killed near and called upon the police to ensure the culprits are brought to book.

“I condemn in the strongest terms the barbaric act of taking human life in cold blood. Such actions have no place in our Nation and must not be tolerated. I call upon the police to ensure the culprits are brought to book. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May Allah forgive you all your shortcomings and grant you Jannah. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and the Uganda Bloggers Association in this trying moment,” Ms Among tweeted.

On the other hand, Robert Kaygulanyi Ssentamu, the President of the opposition National Unity Platform bemoaned how the blogger was murdered in cold blood and said just like the many unresolved murders, no one is safe in the country regardless of political affiliation.

“…What is clear to all of us, regardless of your political affiliation, is that in a sinking boat, there are no winners. Whenever we complain about armed REGIME operatives dressed in civilian clothes causing mayhem, abducting or even killing our people, the same REGIME apologists say we’re politicizing things,” reads in part a tweet by the NUP principal.
