KAMPALA, UGANDA: President Museveni appointed his senior presidential advisor on anti-corruption, Col Edith Nakalema to head the newly created State House Investors Protectorate Unit mandated to protect investors from bribery and extortion from corrupt politicians and civil servants.

Fresh from the National Defence College in Jinja, Col Nakalema, who formerly headed the State House Anti-Corruption Unit before being dropped for Brig Gen Henry Isoke will aim to fight the increasing level of corruption in various public offices countrywide.

The news of Nakalema’s appointment to the role has stirred panic in several districts that have been fond of what is termed as technicalization’ of corruption or ‘sharing the loot and Kick back’ and other forms of bribery.

Many viewers of TV Stations and listeners of radio stations in the country especially Northern Uganda including myself have welcomed the move by the president to set up a new unit of Anti-corruption in the State House that will handle civil servants and politicians stealing money through kickbacks from investors.

Col Edith Nakalema is a no-nonsense person if it comes to making decisions and operations to arrest and prosecute those investigated to be beneficiaries of corruption-related offences.

On my own behalf and NRM lovers, I would like to commend H.E General Yoweri Museveni  Kaguta for the brilliant messages he delivered while officiating the labour day celebration at Namutumba district on May 1, 2023, to deal with the corrupt politicians and civil servants.

Remember Mr Museveni disclosed that bribery and delayed decision-making raise the cost of doing business in Uganda as he has received complaints about such acts.

Quoting from President Museveni’s speech as it goes; “I am using this Labour Day to tell everybody that we are going to have a big fight with these people.”

There are some people who conspire to commit corruption at the district level and they are shielded by some of their God Fathers. This is a fact and whoever told H.E. the president about some politicians conniving to defraud investors was very correct and I hope Nakalema will now go for them.

I am very happy about the appointment of Nakalema and I wish the president also appoints a team of a few related individuals at the regional level to help and coordinate her work in all 18 zones of Uganda.

Meanwhile, I would like to also applaud the UPDF for doing excellent work whenever they are assigned to do so by His Excellency General Yoweri Musevei-the commander in chief of the armed forces.

The UPDF has stabilized the country, here I mean maintaining peace and stability, the policies of the NRM government hence portraying a good image of Uganda within and abroad while protecting the national interest, and that’s why investors are coming to Uganda in great numbers.

By the way, I expect all of you, my fellow countrymen, to rally behind the president to fight corruption without fear or favour.

According to Mr Museveni, ‘’This is the main problem now, we had problems with infrastructure and others but now the main problem is the parasites’’

Many people in the Lango Sub-region including myself really appreciate the president for such a good move simply because many corrupt people tend to do corruption in an organized manner under their password sometimes referred to as ‘‘technicalization’’ of corruption or ‘‘sharing the loots’’.

In my capacity, I would like to thank President Yoweri Museveni for taking my advice on the formation of another team that can counter-investigate the Anti-corruption body put recently in place to fight corruption, for example, the IGG among others.

Nevertheless, I acknowledge and appreciate in a special way the commitment of H.E President Museveni consecutively for the past four years which is now bearing fruit fruits so well by the way.

The latest being witnessed up to now is the ongoing interrogation on the iron sheets scandal under OPM where several ministers are being investigated to the dot for the vice Bravo
